Kati Roll Up Your Sleeves

The Kati Roll Company
99 MacDougal Street
New York, NY 10012

**** (Definite Must)

Its granted that this restaurant is located right in the heart of NYU and is just a stone’s throw away from Washington Square Park, but in a city where great Indian food is strangely hard to come by, The Kati Roll Company definitely stands out.

The décor is charmingly themed around old Hindi movies and the menu has ten variations of literally mouth watering kati rolls (a spicy mixture of meat and vegetables rolled in Indian flat bread) with comical depictions of the meat options for added effect. If you’ve been disappointed time and again by grossly unauthentic Indian joints in Manhattan, this place offers quick redemption. It’s no surprise then that the line to get kati rolls overflows onto the sidewalk with mostly Indians on weekend nights – surely the sign of a fantastic ethnic dive.
